OEE calculator: availability, performance, quality

Five numbers from one shift are enough, or paste the numbers of several machines straight from Excel. The calculator shows the three factors, the OEE and where the planned time is lost.

Shift time without planned breaks and planned maintenance.
Breakdowns, material shortage, changeover times.
The fastest possible time according to the machine or routing.
Good and bad parts together.
Without scrap and rework.

Several machines or shifts at once

Six columns: machine or shift, planned minutes, downtime and changeover minutes, ideal cycle time in seconds, total parts, good parts. A header row is fine.

How the calculator works

OEE = availability × performance × quality.

  • Availability = run time divided by planned production time. Run time is the planned time minus unplanned downtime and changeovers.
  • Performance = ideal cycle time times parts produced, divided by run time. It measures slow running and short stops.
  • Quality = good parts divided by parts produced.

The bar under the calculator shows how much of the planned time is lost at each point. The biggest gap is usually the best place to start.

When it should be every shift

Calculating one shift by hand works. Every machine, every shift, with downtime reasons, needs the data from your MES and production records. With Onagero your production builds this analysis from your confirmations and machine data.

Questions about OEE

What is OEE?

Overall Equipment Effectiveness. It shows what share of planned production time actually produced good parts at ideal speed.

Why three factors instead of one number?

Because each factor points to a different kind of loss: downtime (availability), slow running and short stops (performance), scrap and rework (quality). Only the split tells you where to start.

Why is my performance above 100%?

Then the ideal cycle time is set too long or the part count is wrong. The ideal cycle time is the fastest possible one, not the usual one.

Are my numbers saved?

No. The calculator runs only in your browser and sends nothing.
