Automate contribution margin accounting: by customer, item and order
Which customers and items earn your money, and which cost it? The question is simple; the answer is spread across orders, material postings and confirmations. Onagero puts it together and recalculates it every month.
- Runs on your server
- Reads only, never writes
- GDPR ready
- First result in weeks
In short
Onagero calculates contribution margins from your actual data: revenue per order, material from withdrawals, production time from confirmations, valued with your rates. The result is a tool that shows contribution margins by customer, item and order and flags deviations from the pre-costing. You define the calculation rules.
How your team describes it
Your experts say what they need in their own words. Onagero finds the right data and builds the tool in a test stage; after your release it runs in operation.
„Show me the contribution margin per customer and item from the actual data, and next to every figure the postings behind it.“Analyze contribution margin, as a tool in the browser
What the tool takes over
Three steps done by hand today. The tool your team builds with Onagero then does them itself.
Assigning actual costs
Material, time and external services are assigned to the order they arose from. Where the assignment is missing, it remains visible as an open item.
Calculating levels
Contribution margin I, II, III according to your definition, as tested code and not by the language model.
Comparing
Pre-costing against post-costing per order, so that the next costing is based on real figures.
Typical situations
This is what the value looks like day to day.
Price negotiation with a major customer
Before the meeting, the tool shows this customer’s contribution margin over twelve months, per item group.
Product range question
Which items are permanently below the threshold? The list is there, with the orders behind it.
Material price rises
Which orders does it hit hardest? The contribution margin is recalculated with the new price.
Costing learns
Where was the pre-costing regularly off, and by how much? That feeds into the next costing.
Which data is needed
- Orders with revenue and discounts
- Material withdrawals per order with valuation
- Confirmations with times per operation
- Your cost or machine hourly rates
- Optional: pre-costings for comparison
Only what your IT releases is read. Names are masked in the development stage. How the data path works
What you end up with
A tool that shows contribution margins by customer, item and order over any period, places pre-costing and actuals side by side and opens every figure down to the posting. Plus the written calculation rules.

Start with one problem.
Keep the capability.
No AI transformation. One real process, solved on your data in a few weeks. Your team solves the next one itself.
How your price is formed
After the demo you get a fixed offer. Scope, goal and price are set in writing before it starts.
One real problem, the data sources it needs, your Onagero environment on your server, and the first solution, built with your team and measured against the agreed goal.
- Scope, goal and price in writing before the start
- First running solution in a few weeks
- Your data and results stay exportable at any time
Operating the platform on your server: monitoring, reviewed updates, backup and rehearsed recovery, and maintenance of the connections when systems change.
- Begins only once the start has reached its goal
- Your team builds further solutions itself, in the same environment
- Roles, releases and logs included
What you can rely on
The tool reads, computes and shows. These things it never does, and that is in the contract.
- Onagero does not set internal charge rates. It calculates with yours.
- It changes no prices and no costings in the ERP.
- It does not claim a precision that the assignment cannot support. Costs that cannot be assigned appear as a separate line.
Questions about Analyze contribution margin
Do we need product costing in the ERP for this?
No. If it exists, we use it. Otherwise the assignment is built from orders, withdrawals and confirmations.
How are overheads allocated?
According to your rule. We write it into the tool and show it next to the result, so that nobody mistakes an allocation for a fact.
What if confirmations are inaccurate?
Then the contribution margin is correspondingly blurred, and the tool shows for which orders. Often this is exactly the first finding.
Can sales see the figures?
Only if you release it, and only in the subset you define.
How often is it recalculated?
Daily or monthly, depending on the source. The data as-of date is shown above every view.
